Travel Tips

The wedding is happening in the beach district, Scheveningen. Some of our favorite things to do in this area are hanging out at beach cafes and going for bike rides through the dunes. There are many places to rent a bike, just make sure you reserve in advance (( Scheveningen is a hot tourist spot in August! ))

Scheveningen is known for fish, and there's quite a few places for anything from street food to a fancy meal, especially around the harbor. There's also lots of art and culture to be seen - some great museums, strandbeests, and a land artwork by James Turrell in the dunes. The city center is full of nice restaraunts and cozy shops - and is well connected to Scheveningen by tram and bus.

Use the Dutch public transit route planner 9292.nl to help plan your travels around town.

You can also bike between Scheveningen and the city center in about 25 minutes.

Contributions and Gifts

If you'd like to contribute somehow to the wedding by helping out or giving a gift, we definitely appreciate this gesture of love! But may we also suggest another kind of contribution?

Our wedding is a celebration of love, but in many places in the world it is dangerous to love. Earlier this year the Ghanian parliament passed a set of laws that persecute LGBTQ+ citizens and their allies with imprisonment.

Our friends at pIAR, an incredible performance art residency in Kumasi, have for years been hosting both international and local artists, while also creating a safe space for people from the LGBTQ+ community in Ghana. Led by Va-Bene Elikem Fiatsi, an internationally celebrated performance artist and activist (and friend), they have tried to resist these laws. Keeping art (and love) flourishing while trying to survive.

We ask that you consider donating a gift in our name to their cause, using this fundraiser link: gofund.me/7a46ba26

Because all people must be free to love, to share it and to celebrate it.
